Why We Need Human Rights Organisations in Latin America

At least 700 indigenous community leaders have been murdered in Colombia since the signing of the peace accord with FARC.

Over two years ago I made a public appeal on Twitter for representatives of international human rights organisations to establish a presence in Bolivia. I got no response. A few weeks ago I offered to do this for a group campaigning against the burning of forests here in Bolivia, but the young woman I spoke to has not made contact since. Soo, Evo Morales, how much worse do you want to make this for yourself?

It is possible that these groups' use of WhatsApp is leading to their being targetted. See Allegations Indian Government Used Israeli Pegasus Surveillance System to Monitor WhatsApp and Telegram.
