If Xi Jinping wants to convince me that he is indeed the leader of the Communist Party of China, then he needs urgently to engage in public discussions with all of those who were involved in the 1989 protests, including those who have been in exile for the last thirty years, and allow a full inquiry, televised globally, into the events leading up to those in Tiannanmen Square on June 4th, 1989. It is much more important that Xi Jinping has the respect of the Chinese people, than that he has the respect of Vladimir Putin.
