The level of this discussion is puerile and doesn't seem to go beyond the ideas in Armageddon.
Maybe Brian Nicholson or his daughter Hillary can tell you about my application for a bursary to Schumacher College, which I made in 1989. This idea of using nuclear weapons to protect the earth from asteroid impact was one written by James Lovelock in his book "Gaia: A New Look at Life on Earth", published in 1979, and I didn't think much of the idea then.
What we need to do is learn to control the dynamics of the solar system. See Newton's Clock, in particular, read the chapter Chaos in the Clockwork. At the same time we will learn how to predict the weather years in advance, and how to control it. If you want to know how we're going to do this, then get me what I need to be able to work!
