On Convincing Dialogue

Aaron Sorkin Teaches Screenwriting

Nobody in real life starts a sentence with "Damn it!". 

Well, I don't know much about real life, but in screenwriting, we're not so worried about that. It depends on context.

McNarty: [staring at the three dead bodies of his men, two of them headless.]  "Damn it. How could this have happened?"
